The Art of Peace

Resting Your Spirit with Guided Christian Meditation

Mindful reflections to nurture an abundance of peace, hope, serenity and rest.

Welcome to the little corner of Whimsy by Nature that is the most personal to me. I would love for you to find something here that brings comfort.

The quiet whisper of the spirit.

To share resources for times of difficulty feels very vulnerable, as it can’t be done without glimpses into my own deeply personal moments.

And yet, I know the ‘Whimsy by Nature’ story of authentic well-being is not complete without revealing the hope of my own spirit.

A consistent theme running throughout my life story has been the quest for peace and wholeness. It hasn’t come easily, so I hold firmly to the pathways that have led me into hope. Practising the presence of God has been the place I have found the transcendent, luminous, essence of peace that has been my respite.

“Seek Peace and Pursue It”. Psalm 34:14

I love how this reminds me that peace doesn’t naturally manifest without pursuit. Dwelling in guided reflections, such as those gathered as resources here, are one of my intentional pathways into pursuing deep well-being.

As my communion with God and my love for dwelling on promises from the Bible is my source of deep hope and peace, these elements naturally find their way into my spiritual reflections.

I appreciate my faith pathway may be different from yours.

I appreciate that providing resources based on my Christian faith may not be inclusive for everyone and indeed could be triggering for some. I hope to make this more inclusive with the clear labelling of Christian content and by providing alternatives.

What you can expect regarding faith content.

My reflections that specifically mention God, and elements of my Christian faith, are clearly marked, along with a little detail about the content within. They usually take the form of mindfully dwelling on Scripture, surrounded by quiet to make space for the spirit, without a great deal of accompanying theological interpretation of my own.

Any Whimsy by Nature resources relating to my faith will be housed here in the Spirit section. It is my desire to respect our differences, so I hope this clarity means you can easily choose what you wish to engage with.

Should you like to explore a more diverse range of meditation, I recommend Insight Timer as a user-friendly app that is completely free.

I am on an open path of exploration and hope to communicate peace in the context of a faith that is real for me, rather than promote my belief system. The favourite authors on my playlist right now are Makoto Fujimura, Brene Brown, Aundie Kolber, Kristin Neff, Dallas Willard, Sonya Renee Taylor and Aaron Niequist.

I would love us to engage a spirit of openness for one another’s differences in our shared human experience.

The reflections found here have flown from my heart in my times of need, so I share them in the hope that they may inspire peace for you as well.
